Great Songs and Production – Our Philosophy

Writing great songs is important – matching it with great production is vital

Herrin in the studioHi, my name is Herrin, I founded this record label. I have been helping people create great music for over 16 years, and in that time I have accumulated a real appreciation for the role of the producer. Focus, a sense of potential, and being emotionally invested in the outcome with an objective view on how to make the song the best it can be is part of the role we fill.

One persistent element for me has been the dedication to treating each song seperately and deserving of a consideration independent from the others on the album. It takes more time and can even be gruelling sometimes but I believe the difference is very palpable. A potency and purity is achieved that can make for an intense experience. And isn’t that what music is about? So even if you are creating relaxation music, its intensely relaxing, not droning and sleepy. Sorry, I had to throw that in.

And of course there is the no filler attitude that pushes you and the musicians to write more material and be ruthless with the material you have. Its the fish that John West reject so to speak.

These are some of the things that make music a journey of dedication and persistence as well as a creative endeavour. The balance of the right and left, yin and yang, heart and thinking, light and shade, good and evil ?

Perhaps with more dedication to the production and the importance of THE ALBUM not only the single or the video clip we can move towards giving the public more quality and a sense of attention to detail that is sorely missing not only in home created music but big budget music as well. Remember Dark Side of the Moon?

I think you can hear all the above mentioned qualities in the music you hear on the label and we will continue to bring that sense of quality into everything we create and support musically. Actually we have some great new artists coming in the next few weeks so stay posted. We are very excited!

Thats it, thanks for listening. Have a great week and beyond.
